Expectation
A maximum number of night shifts is set during the roster development process
Specification
Requirements:
- During roster development all stakeholders contribute to making choices around shift rotation and numbers of shifts to work (with input from subject matter experts)
- Where rotating shifts are the most practicable option, then measures are taken to minimise the number of night shifts required in the roster. This helps to avoid unwanted body clock (circadian rhythm) resets outside normal diurnal variations
Implementation
- All stakeholders contribute to the roster development
- Planner arrange and workers perform tasks in line with the agreed rosters
Monitoring
- Work hours are prepared by functional workers (HR and H&S) for review by senior site management
