Equipment selection, task design and short term planning (allocation of workers to and supervision levels for tasks) will minimise the potential for fatigue related incidents occurring


Specification

Requirements:

  • Jobs that are found to pose a high cognitive/fatigue load are redesigned to limit periods of excessive mental demands or included in job rotation processes and regular breaks
  • Worker training includes identifying strategies for minimising fatigue (and other errors) through the use of job rotation and breaks
  • On the job questionnaires and forms are completed by workers in line with site requirements

Monitoring

  • Workers apply appropriate self assessment of their level of fatigue (alerting a supervisor as required).
  • Functional groups in the organisation review the output of other processes (completed questionnaires, behavioural observations, monitoring of noise, vibration etc.) and provide an assessment of task/work station demand levels to superintendents and managers
